Why I Started a $97 Grant Writing Package for Those New to Grant Writing

After two years of nonprofit consulting, I noticed a pattern — and it bothered me.
Faith-based nonprofits would find me, get excited about grant writing, invest $2,500 in a five-grant package, and then walk away disappointed when not every grant came through. Some saw great results. Others didn't. But the ones who didn't? They didn't just lose faith in me — they lost faith in grants altogether. And that's the real problem.
The Disconnect I Kept Seeing
Grant writing isn't a vending machine. You don't put money in and get funded. A seasoned grant writer still wins only about 15–20% of the grants they apply for — and that's on a good day. When you're writing cold to a foundation you've never connected with, the odds get even worse.
I kept seeing organizations approach grant funding the wrong way:
Randomly selecting grants with no strategic fit
Waiting on grant money to move forward with programming — sometimes stalling for months
Misunderstanding what they're paying for — the research, logic models, and needs statements that go into a grant have value far beyond the application itself
And beyond all of that, I kept seeing organizations with a stewardship problem they were misdiagnosing as a cash flow problem. Volunteers who hadn't been followed up with. Board members who weren't giving or leveraging their networks. Sporadic donors who never got a second call.
Grants can't fix that. But a strategy can.
Why $2,500 Can Feel Like a Leap of Faith
If your organization runs on a $50,000 annual budget, handing over $2,500 is 5% of everything you have. That's a significant step of faith — especially when you don't fully understand the grant writing process yet.
I realized I was asking people to go from hearing me for free to committing $2,500 without the foundation they needed to make that investment worthwhile.
I wasn't stewarding them well on that journey.
What the $97 Jumpstart Package Is
So I built something better — a starting point for those new to writing grants.
For $97 and one hour of your time, here's what you get:
A pre-call intake form so I can learn your organization before we meet
Research on funding sources that are a real fit for your mission
A one-hour Zoom strategy call with me
Up to 3 funding strategies you can start working on in the next 60–90 days
A clear picture of what's holding you back and a path forward
The goal isn't just to talk about grants. It's to get you grant-ready — and funding-ready — before you ever write your first application. That means building donor systems, identifying the right funding sources, and making sure that when a grant does come in, it's supporting a ministry that's already moving.
Writing New Grants Isn't the Goal. People Are.
Grants are a tool. They're one arm of your ministry's funding strategy — not a life preserver, not a lottery ticket, and not a substitute for relationships.
The people you serve can't wait for you to get that email from XYZ Foundation. They need you now.
The $97 Jumpstart Grant Writing Package is my way of meeting you where you are and helping you build a funding foundation that actually works.
